With hosting, MTA comes installed and you manage it from the game panel. Memory and disk are reserved for you and the processor is shared. With a VPS, the cores are yours alone and you get root access: you install MTA and anything else you need.
Slots are the limit of players connected at the same time. How much the server handles when full depends on its scripts and the resources they use. If your community spends a lot of time near the limit, a VPS gives you cores of your own.
When the server needs more memory than the largest hosting plan, or a processor of its own, a VPS is the next step. A dedicated server makes sense when the server needs the whole machine. If in doubt, our team looks at your server's usage and recommends a plan.
